ABEC has been chosen as an inaugural honoree for the
Arizona Capitol Times LEADER OF THE YEAR in Public Policy in the category of Education. The award honors outstanding achievements, contributions and leadership in helping to advance public policy in Arizona and make the state a better place to work and live. ABEC was nominated by a "peer and chosen for this honor by the Arizona Capitol Times editorial board and a selected community leader."
Susan Carlson, executive director of ABEC, received the award on behalf of all of its members at an awards luncheon on September 27, 2007 where Governor Janet Napolitano gave the keynote address.
